Commitment to Finish Strong!

Hi Friends,

As we’re finishing up the year I’m reminded of how I started the year before lock down was in place. I created a goal of writing my newsletter every month on time with no excuses. When June rolled around, and we moved into more of the same, people kept saying “why not just drop it”. I began asking myself the same question. Sometimes it’s better to just walk away when you are in over your head or it no longer makes sense. In my case, there was something important to me, in seeing it through. Maybe it’s the fact that I always get emails or calls from people who read them, thanking me for the support and I’m humbled and encouraged if it helps just one person; Or maybe it”s because I had already declared that this was my goal. Finishing the objective you set out to do has more to do with you strengthening your own sense of self and trust in honoring what you say you’ll do, than anything else. I’m happy to say I’m almost to the finish line, with one month to go. Here’s the article I wrote way back in June called Why Goals matter, if you by chance want to check it out. I’m really happy to say I’m almost to the finish line.

What is Commitment?

Commitment is showing up and keeping your word.
It’s doing what you say you will do, even on the days you don’t want to.
It’s creating a schedule and adherhing to it, even when you want to stay in bed with the covers over your head or watch movies all day.
What happens if you fall down and blow it?

Keep going, you’re almost there!

You simply get back up when you do, and begin again.
No one is perfect, so don’t beat yourself up.
Beating yourself up is the booby prize, and makes things worse, wallowing in your woe is me, So forgive yourself when you derail and get back on track.. All great leaders, authors, executives, coaches etc, know this, and you are no different.

Dust yourself off and begin again, no excuses, no spilled milk. Bring the cat in to lap it up, if you have to. Yep, it’s as easy as that!
If you only reach 80 % of your intended goal, then guess what? You are way ahead of the game and on your way to creating whatever it is you want.
Stay the course, keep your committment to you and pretty soon you will see your deepest desires, manifested
.

Your WHY might have to be reviewed to keep your eye on the prize.
So make sure you have your Why somewhere where you can see it everyday!

Why do you want what you want? Why is it important to you?
Make sure you are doing it for YOU.
How will YOU feel after if you stay the course and complete your objective?
Allow it to speak to the part inside of you that wants to emerge.

Fan it, write it, breath it, make it your Mantra!
Committ to your highest purpose and stay the course.
Dreams are manifested from this place.
Keep Going, You’re almost there!
Hooray for you, you are doing it!
You are a bright Star in the Universe!

Here are the steps to help you stay the course.

What do you Want?

What’s your Why? Post it in several places

Make a Schedule.

Stick to it.

Afirm small steps EVERY DAY!!!

❤️ ✨✨✨✨✨ Cindy

  1. Excellent Cindy. Congratulations for sticking to your goals. Many people probably stopped and put their dreams on hold because of the pandemic. There are always people needing what you have to offer. Especially during hard times. Take care. Scott

  2. Great advice, Cindy: definitely feel as though I’m running a marathon rather than sprinting at the moment, but in doing so I’m building my spirit and stamina 🏃‍♀️❤️ 💪

  4. Every step towards love is a commitment ♥ Today I wrote a similar post entitled, “Life is what you make it”. We all need to make and keep small promises to ourselves to be a bit better than we were yesterday. Give of love freely and often. Intentional and mindful living. Looking forward to sharing Wednesday yoga practice with you. Lots of love my dear sister Cindy, in light and in shadow, always with love ❤

Thank you for this beautiful reminder, dearest Cindy….your words make so much sense….and the way you write your posts is simply brilliant….plain, precise & meaningful words….”Finishing the objective you set out to do has more to do with you strengthening your own sense of self and trust in honoring what you say you’ll do, than anything else.”….very relatable….it’s like giving the word & keeping it without any excuses & noise….keep writing….keep expressing ❤️

  7. Commitment is such an important quality in success, and you are right in that it includes doing what you say you will do, even if you don’t feel like it! I really hope that you finish the year strong, wishing you all the best!

  8. Well done Cindy.

‘Make sure you are doing it for YOU.
How will YOU feel after if you stay the course and complete your objective?
Allow it to speak to the part inside of you that wants to emerge’

Bit like writing poetry. I mainly do it for myself. To bring what’s inside up, and out.

Saw a sign the other day outside a fitness centre ‘the first thing in succeeding is just turning up’. I thought so true……

  9. Great reminder! And yes… plowing through even when everybody says “just quit” even when your own self is screaming “why? What’s the point?”
Sometimes the answer is “because I said I would”
That’s when inner strength shines the most!
Congratulations on seeing your goal through to the end! 🥳

    1. That’s so cute those words stuck in your head. She’s right, sometimes it’s that small of a thing that make us feel better. Yes, we are always trying to do our best and that’s good enough. Thanks Hedy and have a wonderful day.

  11. What a pep talk, Cindy, and good for you for sticking to your commitments! I always (unless something beyond my control happens) fulfill my commitments to others, but I’m pretty forgiving otherwise. Goals and perseverance pay off, but I fail a lot too. I chalk it up to a learning experience, and reevaluate my priorities and consider what I really want. Am I doing something because I “should” or because I was told to? I’m too old for that! Lol.

    1. oh thanks Diana and I love what you said at the end and we should never should on ourselves for sure! You have without a doubt shown what dedication is releasing your books and the incredible care you provided for your parents.. There are so many committments, I too have to continue to evaluate! Have a lovely day and thanks for reading and your insights. ❤️ Cindy

  13. It’s a marvel how you stayed motivated and achieved this goal of sending newsletter with addition to writing blogposts.

I am greatly encouraged by your outstanding feat and I’m not going to be beating myself up as much anymore when I don’t meet up to certain tasks.

I’ll dust myself up and get back to work.

Thanks for the encouragement, I feel like a champ already. 😊

Thank you maybe I just needed some encouragement Cindy. Thanks my friend, I know I will feel better if I stick to my schedule. It is especially important to have one these days with all the crazy stuff going on. Love you my friend. Joni

    1. awww thanks so much Joni! I’m so glad this spoke to you! It’s not easy and I think it’s tough because on one hand with all that’s going on, it’s easy to say why bother. And I think deprioritizing is important. You’re right it does feel better when we do what we set out to do even with so much going on around us. You’re welcome. Love you Joni! ❤️ Cindy
