Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

Happy Friday friends and Earth Day (I didn’t forget about it but was knee deep). To me, Earth Day is everyday and honoring our pachamama daily is a vital necessity.

Besides, I’ve been sooooo excited to have a little fun with The Tricketer Himself!

“Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me”!

I got text from our neighbor at 1:30 a.m. saying that the coyotoes were in our backyard singing in the howlng Choir. I didn’t hear them (thanks to bad hearing and my hearing aide out) and Hunter wasn’t going ballistic.

They HAD 75 guinea foul, (If you have ever woken up and gone to sleep with 75 of them squaking you might be looking for a shot gun). to pick the ticks off the the 6 goats that are the official lawn mowers of their property, chickens and turkeys (those are all gone now too). Luckily for us, unfortunately for them; nature took care of the problem. They have tortises, rabbits, 2 or 3 miniture ponies, 2 llamas, a cat and 6 dogs. Ok therein lies the food source for my thrice daily visits from the coyote.

Last year a mountain lion jumped their fence and took down 2 of their goats and the coyote drug off the remains. Their dogs and the coyotes ate all of the quinea fowl and chickens one by one so the food source is going down THANK GOD. LOVE THEM…. AND BUT…… SAD, I KNOW. But as the saying goes… “walk in someone elses shoes”.

Sooooo, the poor coyote is now left to look for food elsewhere and now that we know the source of the problem, we handle one portion of it. Sure enough, he was coming for the Date palm seeds and I caught him or one of them on camera here in action. Let’s be clear, he’d rather have a cat so before you feel too sorry for him cuz he’s skinny, let’s remember he is an uninvited guest.

The pictures are from my kitchen window so not to clear but that is where my hot tub is and and where our animals are othen. Well were, until we stopped letting the cats out unless we’re with them of course. Hunter could take him, but I don’t want to risk him being dinner, especially if the pack comes to lure him off.

Sooooo, now that we knew the problem we knew what to do so we got to it!

The cycle of life can drive you crazy if you let it so why not make it a game.  It’s the memories you’ll remember and how you approach it, rather than the catch.  Never give up trying and laughing because eventually you’ll find the solution or you’ll die trying.  Just keep laughing….. It feels better!

YAYYYYYYY. The thousands of seeds are all gone and we’re sooooo hoping this does the trick! Hunter is the best babysitter seen above as he is guarding Star, our once feral. Now if this doesn’t do the trick, I don’t know what will. hahahahha!

Don’t test me!!!

We have people move our signs to pull in and turn around in our driveway daily which is getting soooo old. I do hope the coyote can read better than them. 🤣

Have a great weekend and have some fun whatever you do. Life is too short not to. We will hopefully get our garden planted this weekend and get one last precious night with our daughter when she gets back from the wedding she has been at in San Louis Obispo, Ca and hopefull she will arrive with a nice bottle of wine. Hint hint.

Blessings of love and laughter always,

💖

Cindy

I think you should begin by teaching them the Alphabet….soon they’ll be reading and probably obeying your signs diligently. 😉
Someday, maybe someday 😉

Maybe begin with the English Alphabet, Cindy.
They love hovering around your place….soon they’ll be reading and probably obeying your instructions 😉 😉

I could hire the coyote to help with the ground squirrel problem. As it is, I catch them and transport them across the river to BLM land, where coyotes, rattlesnakes, hawks, eagles, and foxes welcome them with open mouths. At least, I give them a fighting chance! The neighbors just shoot them. 🙂
The deer with their rapacious appetites are the problem here. That’s where the games come in. After ten years, however, the plants they like are behind deer proof fences and the plants that give them tummy aches are available for chomping, which, for the most part, they don’t.
The really obnoxious ones I chat with about how I like venison stew. Not that they listen. I suspect it’s kind of like the coyotes reading your sign, Cindy. Have a great weekend. –Curt

Can you see what I see? I am not sure why it’s like that, but probably it’s a glitch that happens sometimes. I thought I missed 4 of your posts yesterday, but the actual count was two!!!! 😂😂 WP doesn’t offer all comforts even if we pay money. 😭😭

How nice. On a lighter note coyotes on your side can read the warning signs.

How do you know the coyotes speak English? Why not Spanish or Chinese? 🌞

I’m glad you said Earth Day is a daily thing because the environment is something we need to work on daily.

Cayotes scare me although they are kind of cute lol! Maybe they just need some glasses to read the signs 😜

Well, I suppose that is one way to deter the coyotes. Hope it works! I would have probably build a very large enclosure for the chickens but I can tell you, I wouldn’t be missing the guinea fowl. They are so loud and obnoxious! 🙂

Thanks Cindy! I’m sure they do still get in. Nature finds a way. I remember visiting my grandparents farm and a shotgun sat right by the door. Back in those times, your livestock was your livelihood and keeping the predators away was life or death. 🙂

Hi cindy,
I am a bit late catching up… another Friday is just around the corner.
OMG, you finally got a picture of the villain!! I hope your solution worked and he has gone looking for other sources of food.
It looks like you live in a beautiful property – full of green and natural beauty!
Wishing you a blessed weekend! ♥♥

Wow that is a pretty nice visual from your front window my friend. You know we had a coyote for a short time in our back yard and I was glad when he disappeared because of our smaller dog. What is so sad is that everywhere is getting so overbuilt and to be honest soon our animal friends will have no place to go. We had seventeen deer in our yard a couple of weeks ago. We typically see a dozen but this was the largest we have ever had. I am already hoping there will not be any wild fires this year. That is the most beautiful palm tree I think I have ever seen Cindy, just gorgeous my friend who is not so far away. Hope you are feeling better, you have been on my mind. Sending love to you kind and compassionate Cindy. Hugs, Joni xoxoxo
