Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

Happy Friday my friends!

Hope you are sliding into the weekend with anticipated R & R in one way or another. As promised here are some pictures of our Montera Beach Hike in Half Moon Bay but first a little history.

Half Moon Bay is a about 30 min North of us if we leave before 9:30 a.m. otherwise the one way road in along the coast will have you crawling. We love it to visit and our dog Hunter loves the coolness which you can count on in the mornings there. Being born in San Francisco and raised in Daly City I spent a good amount of years loathing the fog but now that I am 40 minutes south of there where it’s hot the way I like it, the fog is a welcome change.

Best trails in Montara State Beach, California

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 2,250 Reviews

Explore the most popular trails in Montara State Beach with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

Description:

Montara State Beach is a popular location for visitors who can explore the beach tide pools or go surf fishing. The beach is bounded by low hills both to the north and south. Restaurants and grocery stores are nearby. Point Montara has a lighthouse that offers overnight accommodations. It is operated by Hostelling International, a non-profit group. Montara Mountain (also called McNee Ranch) is part of Montara State Beach. The mountain is a northern spur of the Santa Cruz Mountains and features the only undisturbed Coastal Mountain Habitat found over 100 miles of coastline. The beach is located eight miles north of Half Moon Bay and 20 miles south of San Francisco on Highway One. The day-use area is open from 8am to sunset. Dogs are permitted provided they are controlled with a leash of no more than six feet at all times. No beach fires are allowed.

At the top you can see the whole world looking down or the whole world feels like it is in you

Montera Beach Hike over looking the coastT

One foot in front of the other… passing with knowing glances or stopping to feel and shoot the breeze

We all make the climb, distant hikers, instant friends…. our dogs make the introductions for us

The mountain is steep expanding your lungs and giving strength to your limbs.. a room with a view await you

Fog clouds our view making it possible to take one step in front of the other, instead of seeing how far we have left… Keeping us in the NOW

Bikers Stop to smile and pose for a picture making everything bright

So many vistas and vantage points, we start our decent into the night since the slippery slope sends us sliding down.

And finally the loganberries I’ve been dreaming of and only a few to taste the sweetness of their nectar….. so I shall return

And then these words come to me when Preeths from Offshore wrtier makes a comment on my haiku and another one comes to me out of the blue (don’t you love when that happens, I do)

Standing side by side

Take my hand in unity

We need each other

Thanks Preeths❣️

It was a wonderful day all in all even though it took us 2 /12 hours with the sand going down. Make sure to wear hiking boots if you go.

On a really fun note, my daughter flew in last night and we’re all together again. I’m always happiest when we have everybody under one roof again… well at least for a few days until it begins to smell like fish. 🤣💖

We’re off to a rehearsal dinner for a family friend tonight and wedding tomorrow which is exciting but a bigger gathering than I like so I’m wearing a mask even though it’s outside.

We had a ball trying on dresses and modeling them all and I felt so honored to be included in the fun as my oldest daughter bought me dresses to try on for this western theme wedding.

Which one do you think they voted on?

No Ollie you can’t come, sorry.

However you spend your weekend, make it enjoyable and have some fun!

I can’t wait to dance but remembering my mantra to stand upright and NOT FALL!

Lot’s of love and blessings Y’all and now I better giddy up as the day is calling.

💖

Cindy

The dress in the middle. Cool hat and cut-off boots. Those are beautiful views from your hike. Have a great time at the wedding.

I was thinking the third might have won the vote. I’m sure you would be a beautiful, elegant western lady whichever of the three you wore.

I would vote for the gorgeous, light dress on the extreme right.
Which one you had on? 🙂

Wish I was up that mountain path. Thank you for the virtual tour though:) “a room with a view await you” – this is a super metaphor, Cindy 🙂

That is a beautiful view. By saying thag I remember one line- “The toughest climb always leads to the best views”

Enjoy the dance & gathering and while keeping the safety.

I think Im not eligible to vote 😅
But I suspect you love the left one, so go with that. Though you always look pretty.

Oh, how I love the coastline of Northern California! Your photos are stunning! My favorite dress is the one on the far left, but no ankle boots – I’d wear knee boots with it! Have a load of fun at the wedding! Oh, I’m glad you changed your logo. Behind your photo, the old one appeared as red horns on your head! (I wanted to tell you, but was afraid you’d worked hard on it and wanted to keep it!) Happy weekend, Sweet Cindy! 🌞

Hi Cindy,
What a beautiful place to hike!
I never had loganberries… do they taste like blackberries?
I think the last dress would be the best with the booties, but I am sure would look amazing in anything.
Post the final look 🙂
Blessings! ❤❤❤

Did they choose the middle dress? I think that would go well with the hat and low boots – but I personally would want to wear the dress to the left
🙂
and enjoyed this hike with you –
like that note about how the fog keeps you present and in the now – great analogy for life

Thats a great hike Cindy! Looks like you had lots of fun, lots of energy well spent, and maybe some some poetic thoughts too? I didn’t know of Loganberries and they look gorgeous and yummy. The board shows so much birdlife, did you see some? Maybe the fog would have hidden them. Hike, hills, sea and fog, all on one day. That kind of geography is unusual here where I stay, beautiful landscape and pictures. So what if my weekend missed the energy from your post, it would help me in my ongoing week 🙂 !

Cindy, the story of yours takes me back to October of 2011 as we had visited Half Moon Bay Beach on Friday with my friends from Cupertino. It was cold and we were there to walk and take few photos. It sure is very beautiful and with all your writing and photos even of strangers on the bike makes it so friendly.
