Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

women holding a sky lantern

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a joyful safe New Years and you are ready to usher in 2022. There is a nice ring to this year even though we are facing new record numbers and restrictions. Might we all pause with a prayer as we send energy and love and light to those that are suffering and continue to be vigilant and mindful.

This spoken word poetry came to me when I woke up this morning, most likely inspired by Amanda Gorman’s beautiful spoken word poetry on New Years Eve which you can see here. She is truly gifted and we’re blessed with her poetry and wisdom. Thank you Amanda. I was also talking to one of our friends who has a piece of spoken poetry that he will be launching soon. When the muse wakes me, I’ve learned to answer the call. I’ve written it out and also recorded it if you’d like to rest your eyes and relax and enjoy.

Ignite our light for a New Year

It’s time to ignite our light
as we give up the fight
of being right and instead
gain insight instead of inciting.
Let’s come together and unite.

It’s a new day, a new dawn
so let’s put the past behind us
as we step into our future,
roll up our sleeves and reach out a hand
to lift each other up
instead of put each other down.
Let’s open our hearts to receive
so we can share that love with our brother.

Let’s walk away from condemnation
and be a beacon of light
so we can be a stronger nation.

Let’s step up to the plate
being an example and walk away
from getting on our soap box.
We need to practice what we preach
and go back to what we learned as children
and be kind to one another,
in and out of the sandbox.

If we can’t get it right in our own homes
then how can we get it right in our world ?

If we follow the golden rule
of treating others as we would like to be treated,
no matter what ethnic background or race,
our world would be a better place.

We don’t have to agree
we just have to correct the wrongs.
When we witness atrocities
we need to step in and stand up
for the children for our future generation,
demand  justice, and fix what went haywire
in the hands of those that don’t know
and demand restitution.

Making someone accountable for their actions
speaks volumes over locking them up
and throwing out the key.
Might we learn tolerance and heal the wounds of the past
where we’ve gotten a bad rap
and teach skills of communication
through kindness
rather than arrogance and put downs.

Let’s start today by changing our ways
and being part of the solution,
not part of the problem
and one by one let’s get it right.
Throw down our arms of destruction and
build tolerance of construction so we stop
eroding our vision.

Let the animals come out of hiding
while our waters fill up and boats sail once again
while we wake up to the truth
that global warming is real
and stop making it a party issue
and come to the party.

It’s high time we come together
and hold hands and part  seas
and stand firm in our faith
so that we can have
peace and equality
for each and everyone.

Thank you truly for visiting and may you have a wonderful and abundant year.

Happy New Year!

Blessings of Love and Peace in 2022 to you and All you love,

💖

Cindy

Happy new year Cindy! I know im late but you know me. I binge-read when I can. Always a week or so behind. Your poetry is one of a kind. So lovely. Honestly, im in a rough spot with my writing because my mind is very negative. I’m being productive and getting things done and reading blogs when I can, but my purpose to motivate and inspire is compromised by the cynical thoughts in my head. Your poem inspired me to be more positive.
