Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

Happy Hump Day!

I’ve got 2 poems for you today descriptive of life as we know it now. While they aren’t uplifting, they are indicative of our times today.

Barren Branches Scare

Branches barren Scare
The moon hides disguised
as Covid, Delta, or Omicron
and new satellites rise,

Trying to steal our thunder.
We must surrender
canceling all plans

yet the beast
appears to only be a scare.

Grief strikes,
Losing hope in what is true
and what is not.
The anti-vaccers come out in droves
and the vaccers are on a tear.

We stand divided,
in the same line,
for the third time ,
for a chance
the test might give us satisfaction.

Our immune system says,
“have you checked in with me,
to make sure that our diets are toxic free”?
I have a story to tell
and some stars to sell you,
as the moon shines bright.

The monster is overshadowed
by love and light.
Your test is free tonight,
have a drink
and some sugar ladened treats
with a denial rush
We’ll see you in line tomorrow.

Shit Show

Lights flashing
yellow, red, green
all systems a go,
fired by the devil hour.
Happy hour’s turned sour.

Doors open,
some slam,
burning incense
and ashes, wafting
through halls crammed.

Unpredictable days,
bleed into unforeseen nights.
Coffins lined with velvet
and rose petals,
while people wrthe and scream.

Time goes slowly,
While clouds go black.
Flowers wilt and line the halls.
All that’s left
are barren thorns.

Some don’t have a fighting chance
but still they take roll call.
Our breath gets taken one by one,
Some will stay,
Others fall.

The patients take the lead,
the doctors can’t take much more.
The priests have gone to heaven.
It’s a Goddamn
bloody bath hell.

It seems this beast is everywhere right now and like many of you we had so many Covid scares through the holidays. Our daughter “Barbican” arrived for the holidays from New York and announced her B.F. who was supposed to come 2 days after Christmas got Covid. We were like ” umm..why did you come then”? Well, it turns out they both tested and she was negative right before she came and his results didn’t come until after she was in flight.

Our son simultaneously got sick and was quarantined in the back for 3 days until he got his results. We cancelled plans with our parents for the day after Xmas and they were really disappointed but at 85, 87, 91 and 95 we couldn’t take the chance. Maybe though when your that age, you’ll take your chances and the chance of being with family is worth it.

It turns out she has a had a false positive and then paid 300.00 for the PCR (OUCH!) which was negative. Our son got his negative results on Christmas day so the party began. We ended up re-inviting the parents and 2 out of the 5 came. Yes, it was a Shit Show but we salvaged it with good food and games which was descriptive of my first poem. Then my husband got a bug on New Years Eve and I got something after that but we’re clear now.

This past week my step father had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance from falling and is now in a rehab facility which is great but he can’t have visitors. My FIL is in lock down again at his retirement facility as well. My heart goes out to all of you that are suffering or have friends or family that is as well. I was on a night walk with Hunter when the lights were flashing and I flashed back to all of this which is when the poem Shit Show came to me. I almost didn’t post it because I like to leave you with a positive light at the end of my work but it’s what I’ve got and it was timely, so there it is.

Take good care of you and all you love!

💖

Cindy

The holidays were crazy with COVID and my family as well. We all ended up getting sick with COVID on Christmas Day 🙁 Though we were released on New Year’s Eve but were still having symptoms and were too tired to do much celebrating haha! Still made the best out of it though and stayed up to welcome 2022! <3 Keeping your family in my thoughts!

Both the poems are poignant and heart touching dear Cindy. Right now I’m positive and in home isolation😊

Oh no it must have been rough for you, and the poems are beautiful. I hope your step father is okay now. I’m glad you were able to celebrate with family. The video was fun.
