Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

gift boxes with red ribbons

Pleasantries exchanged
in brown paper packages,
hide nicely,
tied up with string.

Feelings housed in boxes
Stored neatly tucked away
for a rainy day.

Pandora’s box opens snakes and ladders
showing their ugly head,
where turmoil courses
through hardened veins.

Moving…. slow as molasses,
and quicksand,
drowning in sorrow.
Quickly….. close the box!

Tie it with a beautiful bow
and put it back on the shelf
and smile hello.

Life is messy and fragile
Please pass
the chocolate.

And then there’s Ollie! Her new box is her playground. Next life, I’m coming back as her. I bought a water dish for her since she loves baths and water but she hasn’t touched it. Turns out this is the best bed she’s ever had so I can’t bare to return it. Happy Almost Valentine’s Day Ollie. πŸ’–

life is like a box of chocolates,
you never know what you’re gonna get

Forrest Gump

Blessings of Love Always,

Ollie is so beautiful. She definitely is saying, “Don’t touch my box!” Just like a kid who enjoys the box so much more than the toy. What’s up with that? I reenacted your poem on Monday when I went through boxes and boxes of stuff in Cindy’s garage. I came across pictures from my first marriage, his mom and sister, who are all long gone. Cindy was so kind and listened to stories of my first family for probably an hour. It felt so wonderful to share those memories with someone. Then I packed them all away for another day.

You should see Nutter Butter right this second. We got the most beautiful and sturdy fuzzy blanket from a friend with two cats. It was folded on the couch. He has been kneeding it for about the last five minutes. It is no longer folded but is becoming comfortably molded around his curled up body.

Oh sweetness, this has touched my heart with a mix of feelings.. love, fear, surprise, but most of all amazement. I mean, this is an amazing piece Cindy. Darling you’re batting a thousand in poetry. Ladders maybe ugly, but certainly not snakes! Pandora is such a problem when it comes to boxes. Ollie is having a great time. Our dance room is always filled with boxes for the cats. They get very upset when I break down the boxes. I have to assure them there will be more boxes. You might like this song. JYP wrote the verses. I wrote the chorus and the music. I recorded the song with me on guitar, bass and vocals: https://soundcloud.com/user-334086053/content-like-a-cat.

Delicious finale to your very meaningful poem, Cindy! πŸ™‚ Ollie is gorgeous and looks regal in her new box! <3 I think it might be a bit too much if we opened all those boxes like it was Christmas, don't you? I am very grateful for those lines that you included Cindy, and you did it beautiuflly. I love the truth in it. After going for quite long with chocolates and smiles, I went thorugh a insane phase of relentlessly opening those dreaded boxes – the joy and freedom on the other side has been priceless! Chocolate actually tastes sweeter now πŸ™‚ I relate to wanting to keep things pretty – that is always how a kind heart delivers truth πŸ™‚ I agree with you, some people don’t want to open those boxes, I took my own sweet time to get there too. It is my pleaure and prviliege to engage _()_

Beautiful poem, expressed so wonderfully, Cindy. Indeed, pain is a part of life, just as pleasure is, we don’t get to choose one or the other, for they are synonymous with each other, yet we do get to choose how we respond, which, for me, is what your poem speaks to. A blissful write. And, YES, please pass the chocolate! ❀️❀️❀️

Cindy, nicely done. I was told to beware of things in pretty boxes, not the brown paper ones. Or as Ziggy once said in a comic strip about a management presentation, “the nicer the presentation, the worse the news.” So, now I need to watch out for Pandora’s box in brown paper. Yes, pass the chocolate box, hopefully there are some dark chocolate ones left. Keith
