Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

group of people taking photo inside room
My Sister and Brother in Law!

2 fools in love said their I do’s on this foolish day.
44 years later they’re still going strong just living the dream.
They call us the fools but really?

They picked this and tomorrow’s her birthday,
so who are the fools after all?
The moral of the story is it takes a fool to know one

and 2 to tie the knot on April 1st.
Once a fool, always a fool.
Happy Anniversary forever fools!

And happy April fools day to all of my foolish friends.

This was my best friend Jan, Jahn, Fool (and yes we called each other that), who just so happened to be my boyfriend’s sister but little did we know that for quite awhile.

Her brother became my husband a year after they got married. 49 years later we still are besties👯‍♀️, laugh at the silliest things which turn quickly to crossing our legs hysterically running to the bathroom to this day.

Once we were window shopping on El Paso Drive with our girls and got laughing so hard that one of us peed all down the street. This is not a street you want to be peeing on, trust me. Heads were turning and we were mortified but couldn’t stop laughing. I can’t remember who peed but I’m sure it was her and she’s sure it was me. I’m actually sure she’s right. Haha!

So many memories come flooding back to me and I am forever grateful.

She calls us the fools but let’s be honest, whoever picks this day as your Anniversary are the real fools!
And to be honest, who sends me a picture to post with the “Search by Gallery Caption” to share. Ha. I asked it for her this morning so there’s that. I have so many pictures I wanted to share of she and I but mine are all packed away.

And look what happened to her last night… so much for romance! Hahahaha

APRIL FOOLS! SHE SENT THAT TO ME THIS MORNING. SHE’S GOING TO SURPRISE HER PRESCHOOL CLASS AND TELL THEM SHE CAN’T TEACH AND THEY CAN GO HOME. 😂

Here’s one of all of us celebrating my MIL and FIL’s 50th Anniversary at The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, where my mother used to work.

Sweet Memories of our time together for Mom and Dad’s 50th Anniversary. The taught us the meaning of for better or worse

Project update:

I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a challenging week with snafus with the house remodel and I’m so glad it’s Friday!

My contractor said we have a little problem with your tub. I was like… “Yeees?” He said he forgot it was a bigger tub and it’s not gonna quite fit. Wait, you’re kidding me, doesn’t he read plans?

To be fair the architect specked 60 x 32 tub on the plans but we’ve talked for 8 months about the size of the tub increasing in size and he assured me it would be no problem.

I was so hoping that was an April Fools joke, but not so. I ended up not showing up for the meeting because I knew I was so mad I needed to step back from it. My husband went and I told them to come up with some solutions and present them to me. So far none of them are options that work.

It will fit trust you me but we’re back to finagling everything at the moment and stopped the project until we get it figured out.
Change orders are expensive so we’re not going there. Ollie doesn’t seem to mind at all and is quite happy with me trying out furnishing to get a sense of space. Next life I’m coming back as one of my animals. I don’t mind change orders when we find things that are out of anyone’s control like finding out we have double the concrete when drilling. No one could guess that ahead of time but not this, when we talked about it several times and documented it. On the plus, he admitted it was his fault and he’s an awesome friend and contractor, so we’ll get through this. If you have any ideas, have at it:

The moral of the story is get change orders drawn on paper BEFORE framing even when they tell you it’s not necessary.

The windows were scheduled for today but they weren’t on the truck which is about right for this week. As they say what project was ever on time and on budget? I’m always optimistic but even optimists are wrong sometimes.

On the plus, we finally got some rain!!! Some is better than none and helped water our newly planted trees.

Melting memories
lemonade snow cones refresh
bitter sweet kisses

We ended up getting 4 mores trees from our neighbors which was a boon!!

Bhlat said YES TO THE DRESS. If you didn’t see my instagram picture, here it is below.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY We finally have a Date and a dress in the nic of time!

Narinia is off to Washington D.C. with 116 8th grade students and 15 teachers for their annual Trip which is the first time going in 3 years (glad it’s her and not me but she’s over the moon) and will get to see Brontavalo (my daughter that lives in NYC) when she gets there. Fun times!

Have a wonderful Friday and remember life doesn’t always go as planned, we get disappointed and upset but there is always a solution to every problem.

Something good comes from mishaps and sometimes it’s even better than you could have ever expected.
Keep the faith, your chin up and carry on. There is no time to sit and wallow. We are in charge of how we show up and face the day.
As for me, I’m facing it with a cuppa in hand and a celebration of life later today for a friend that lost her mother but lived a wonderful full life.
Take each day as it comes and roll with the punches. Thanks for visiting today!

Happy Fri-Yay My Friends,

💖

Cindy

Aww.. That is such a sweet one, from best friends to sisters I’m sure it is a thrilling journey and haha… I definitely takes a fool to know one, we are all fools after all 😜
I am curious though as to how many thought it was an April fools joke and how many actually showed up to the wedding. 🤔😅
Oh! The frustration, I hope things get sorted out quickly.
Eager to see her in the gown she said yes to. 😁❤️❤️

Enjoyed reading about all those wonderful old memories. And I know how much you’d counted on that tub. Isn’t that the most important part of this project for you? Which means they’d better come up with a solution. 😉 It seems things like this always happen to me too. We have visions of treasures we want, but the ideas don’t always come to fruition. Sometimes we have to take a step back and rethink the real importance of certain things. It’s hard to change our wants and wishes. It always requires a change of perspective for me. I always get my heart so set on things, only to be let down in the end. So I’m trying to go more with the flow these days and look for the positives in every situation. I hope next week is less stressful for you. Building projects are never easy.

It all reminds me of a time when I was building my first house and I really wanted a built in window seat. I’d wanted one my entire life, to sit and read and just do whatever I’d wanted to in my little nook. But the builders couldn’t be troubled by my request and nobody else seemed to care about it as much as me. So instead, the builders ended up getting a bench and a few small book sleeves made by the Amish to help satisfy my longing for that window seat. The bench wasn’t very wide though and the hardware on the top of it made it impossible to sit on for very long. I should’ve made a cushion for it, but I never got around to it. The only good thing is that I’ve been able to move those 3 pieces of furniture with me every time I’ve moved. I’ve still never had my window seat, but now I have an office all to myself with a very nice view. So I can hardly complain. Lol… Sounds like you really need that bathtub and so I hope it all works out. 😉

Well, we should at least do something together. I used to do collaborations all the time. I had this challenge called Monotony Free Mondays and I’d start by writing the intro to a story and others would submit the next part. Then I’d choose the one I thought was the best entry for the week and the story just kept continuing on like that every week. It was such a fun thing to do and I had around 5 people who were regular contributors to the story. Might have to start something like that again. It’s always fun to get lots of people involved. Diana Peach used to be involved with it, and I think you know her. I’m trying to remember who else worked on it with me. 🤔

Happy Fun Friyayyy, Cindy! Happy anniversary to your sister in law, love that pee story and the fact that you don’t remember who peed somehow makes it funnier. Happy to see she found her dress, so exciting , I just finished prom shopping for my daughter last weekend and saw so many beautiful wedding dresses, I was half tempted to renew vows.🤣 Renovations have so many ups and downs but glad they are coming along. It will be so worth it once it all gets done.💕💕💕

Wow, Cindy, what a mess! My husband is almost finished with a new furnace/AC install and reworking the walls project in our no-work condo in Scottsdale. The week long project has taken a month, but everything finally worked out. I’m so sorry about your tub! Even harder when it’s a friend doing the work, right? Well you stepped back and when you come back to it, there will be answers. There always are answers and compromises. I’m happy for your daughter’s trip. That is such an iconic place and trip to make at that age. Love your anniversary pictures and your friend, who looks like you! Have a wonderful weekend.

Cindy my friend, girl, it is never a dull moment with you. 🤭 Cheers to your bestie Jan. 🥂 I would never think to even consider getting married on April Fool’s Day. I would have probably thought that I would have gotten stood up in some way at the altar on April 1. Yes honey, I do have folks in my life who have warped senses of humor and would freak me out if I chose this date to get married…which would have been Holy Shi# instead of Holy Matrimony. 😝 And to think that she has a boot on her foot today? WOW…I won’t ask what REALLY happened! 😲😱🤣

Well if you have to not get the bigger tub that might be okay – I know for us we had a humongous tub in the master bath in our Florida home and it was too much
— we ended up using the other tub
Well I am sure you want what you want – but just thinking that one option might be go with the specs as is?

This is great fun all the way down till, boom, a friend lost her mother. But I’m glad the old woman lived her life in full. I’m glad to see you down there, looking resplendant and fine, with your lovely daughters, aren’t they the ones? I even forgot about April Fool’s Day. Oh such a great fool I am! Hahah. And it’s true; sometimes something told to us on April 1st may feel hopefully a lie but turns out the truth, like in the case of the change orders in your project. 😇 I’m glad you’re progressing well with the project and even much more elated to hear that your neighbour gave out more trees. It’s a noble thing to reconstruct what we’ve (he, to be precise) destroyed. Happy moments to you and your wonderful family. 💫❤💫❤💫

Hi ya sweetie, boy you have been busy. I love the picture of you and your friend, a couple of hotties. What a wonderful thing to have a friend you can actually pee with, haha. That is what having children do to us ladies. I am sure you treasure your friend and friendship. Your poem was sweet and funny at the same time. You are right how many people do you know that get married on April Fools Day! I always love it when you share your photos. Sorry about your tub that sucks, I hope that you are able to get the one you wanted in there, this has been a long haul. I am happy your daughter decided on a dress, how fun, great photograph too. I always enjoy posts that have anything to do with your family. It is just nice to see such a normal family that all can get together and laugh and have a great time. I still remember the one of your daughter taking cookie dough and slinging it at you and you both having so much fun in the kitchen. I hope they do finish with your home soon, it is a distraction having others in your house all the time. Sending you my love and thanks for sharing this fun stuff and your best friend with us. We are spending June and July in Kirkland, WA with my daughter and our grandchildren. We will have our own house to stay at which is two blocks away from her new home. We are both looking so forward to it. Love you sweetie, my friend who is never too far away. Love you, Joni
