Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

Sometimes fun lands in our lap softly, other times loudly and still others deeply and brings you to tears of joy and sadness which unites us.

My days have been full with clients, managing our construction project, family members and more recently the decline of my stepfather. In actuality, he has been on the decline for quite a while, in and out of hospitals and rehab centers but it has become clear that his life on earth is numbered.

Yesterday after a session I peeked out my window and was greeted by the most beautiful hawk up close and personal. It was in my magnolia tree and was just hanging around and I was elated.

I immediately thought of my MIL.

While we loved and adored her she loved to nag and specifically my husband about not getting a haircut. A week after she died, he was at the golf course and a hawk literally swooped down on his head and bit him bringing blood gushing. The staff had never seen this before. As he was leaving, there were 2 hawk feathers right at his feet. We all knew that was a message from her.

It may sound crazy to you if you’re not seasoned in messages from spirit but for those of us that are, we knew it was a message and we get a chuckle out the story and are always collecting hawk feathers.

I was excited to get these gorgeous pictures and felt blessed and immediately thought of the timing of my MIL and the message she might be conveying. My Stepfather and MIL were like oil and water, cut from the same cloth and could rip each other to shreds at a moments notice and sadly, they brought out the worst in each other.

Not as much as a half hour later, I got an emergency call from my mother saying come now, he doesn’t have much time. I called my daughter and I met her there. He was given his last rights and blessed and they expected him to pass any time since the crash was so extreme, but he actually rallied and his vitals were stabilized. It was uncanny.

I took the timing of the hawks visit as a sign from my MIL saying “hey, I’m ready to soar the skies with you, you can’t get away from me.” Haha. I told him about it and he rolled his eyes.

Hawk Symbolism & Meaning

Hawk symbolism and meaning is the missing key you might need if you truly want to learn how to move in harmony with other humans. Is fear keeping you caged and unable to fly toward making your dreams come true? Are you too focused on minutiae and need help to see the bigger picture? Hawk, as a Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal, can help! Hawk teaches you how to go with the flow and free yourself from mental blocks. Delve deeply in Hawk symbolism and meaning to find out how this Animal Spirit Guide can uplift, animate, and inspire you.

We donโ€™t die all at once but slowly over time and the worst death is to have never lived at all and taken chances.

Cindy

We die little bit everyday from things we didnโ€™t say, places we never saw we dreamed of going,
chances we didnโ€™t take, playing it safe out of fear.

Yet in truth, the only place we ever needed to go was in our own backyard to face our inner victories and defeat.

Life is meant to be lived, explored, seen for better or worse, the dips and the peaks, the rain and the sun, the buds and the blooms and the branches charred black.

And when our leaves have fallen and our last one hanging blow whispers of I love with tenderness while we witness the biggest gift you can give someone which is simply a peaceful presence.

All of my children are in different parts of the country at the moment except “Blhat” who has been a pillar of strength and today my baby from New York “Brontavalo” is on the plane heading home to visit which are the gifts we can never prepare for. “Gato” was at a work conference with his new colleagues and got to talk with him and broke into tears on the phone, “Narnia” can’t possibly leave 116 students who just got to New York. On the plus the two girls got to have dinner together last night.

My heart breaks for all of you who couldn’t be with loved ones during Covid and they had to die alone. I’m truly sorry and grateful to have this closure. I do love birth and death that stops time, and our hearts registers what is important as we shut off from what isn’t and time stands still for pausing and reflection.

And one more thing that truly made my heart stop on a happy note was driving by Joan Baez’s House and seeing this in honor of Ukraine which is a walking prayer in action.

If you are unfamiliar with Joan Baez here is a little information about her:

Joan Chandos Baez is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and activist. Her contemporary folk music often includes songs of protest and social justice.

Years active: 1958โ€“present

Associated acts: Bob Dylan; โ€ŽMimi Fariรฑaโ€Ž; โ€ŽOdett…โ€Ž

Occupation(s): Singer; songwriter; musician; a…

Instruments: Vocals; guitar

Brothers in Arms (Joan Baez version)

Have a Fun Fri-Yay whatever that means to you and a weekend of respite and love. Listen to your messages that just might surprise you when you just open your eyes.

Blessings of a mindful and loving heart,

๐Ÿ’–

Cindy

Enjoy your Fri-Yay! ๐Ÿ’–

I love the photos; the red-tailed hawk is indeed a majestic and inspiring bird. We see them occasionally and just love collecting feathers when we find them. The swooping hawk incident sounds practically unbelievable, making it all the more believable. <3

What a beautiful and heartwarming message Cindy. Girl, I have a resident Red Tail Hawk living amongst the trees in our backyard. It’s so amazing, yet a little eerie, how they stare you down as if you were in the middle of a duo in a western. Still they are some amazing creatures with a warrior’s spirit. Great pics BTW!

Sending you lots of love and hugs my friend. Hang in there! ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜˜

Love you story, and I am all about omens and signs. I wrote a short story about how an encounter with a hawk inspired a woman to embrace life again. Your hawk is particularly handsome.

I loved your sentence about the fact that time stops when there is a birth or death. We know instinctively what the important times are and every thing else stops. They are both precious. Have you ever watched Call the Midwife? I love that series because birth never stops and when it is time, it is time.

I don’t remember any mistake, but mistakes are everywhere. I used to feel so guilty when someone found a mistake of mine. Now just say thanks, fix it and move on because even the smartest of bloggers seem to have tiny errors somewhere. LOL. The more we write, the more opportunities there are for errors.

I’m always trying to move away from our cultural believes that hawks, owls and vultures are inauspicious. It’s what we grew up back in the boondocks believing and would mercilessly throw stones at these animals. Now that’s really too primitive to even say in such a platform I guess. But these days I see all the beauty in these creatures. They all have their uniqueness and strength and are nature’s greatest posessions. I’m glad to learn that hawks can represent the inimitable power within us. I love this. May God grant your step-father the peace as he walks this tough journey, always painful indeed. There’s a time my mum had cerebral malaria and was sick to near-death, and everyone thought she wouldn’t live. But she lived and is very much alive today, though always on and off illness. I continue to thank God for her. It shows the power of God. When all hope is gone, God is still our strength. I continue to pray for Ukrainians too. Have a wonderful weekend my dearest friend. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

Cindy, great story and pictures. While an eagle on a golf course is appreciated (two under par on a hole), a hawk swooping down would be a scary sight and feeling. Thanks for sharing and I am glad he is unscathed. Keith

Cindy, your post is packed with beauty, inspiration, gorgeous photos, and moving stories. I am fascinated by hawks; their symbolism is very meaningful to me. Last summer I had the privilege of seeing one up close while traveling up north. Sadly, it was injured, but a rescue team took and hopefully rehabilitated it. Recently, I have seen one in our backyard which is highly unusual. Of course, I am thrilled by its visits. I am sorry about your stepfather. Sending you peaceful thoughts. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Great job snapping the photos, Cindy. I always look up the meaning of animals after encountering them repeatedly or in an odd manner. We are, after all, a part of Nature, so why would She not communicate with us through our 4-legged and winged brothers & sisters? Sending you & your step-dad warm, loving energy.
