Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

When Nawaz, Zish, Sheereen, otherwise known as The Lightning Bug on her blog asked me if she could interview me on her blog, I thought she was kidding but after some fun on Whatsapp, I realized she was dead serious. It took me away from my daily demands and let the child in me come out to play. I highly recommend you accept her offer if you are lucky enough she asks you to interview with her. Just say YES! I mean that way if you need some kind of a tribute in your obituary someday you will have a claim to fame. 😂

Without further ado here is Sheereen in her own words. She truly is a ball of fire and energy lighting up the page as you will see below. They don’t call her the lightning bug for nothing. I’ve simply copied and pasted the interview if you care to have a read.

But wait: Here is our morning fun today right before we posted. Not sure which was more fun; taking the photos or doing the interview. It was so awesome to meet her brother and Nani! What a special unexpected treat to my morning.

FUN ACROSS THE MILES!

The Interview by Sheereen, Nawaz, Zish at the Lightening bug. Please head over and say hi to her there if you haven’t read it yet.

Hey guys! Welcome back to Candid! This time I got to interview the very famous forever young Diva, Cindy Georgakas. She is always Belle of the ball because of her charismatic personality. I haven’t met someone as lively and chirpy as Cindy ever in my life.

1) Introduce yourself. What are your darkest thoughts when you are alone.

I am a genie in a bottle but escape far too often and would prefer to stay in a beautiful bottle and travel the seas on a world tour where I can open up my eyes for a peek and close them in slumber to sleep-:)

My darkest thoughts when I’m alone. I dream chocolate, drinking Mai Tai’s on the beach, dancing wildly with no time frame and walking in the moonlight. Yes, I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. The other night I dreamt of three people that died in my dreams but wildly they were alive… hmm…

You definitely are a cute genie. In most cultures, if you dream of someone’s death, they probably have a long life!

2) People say age is just a number. And you are a perfect example of it. But still I would like to know the age of this very young lady. You know to get some good suitors. Wink! Wink!

Oh well this is all good to know and I am so laughing at the moment I hope that means I’ll have a long life too ha ha. Actually I’ll have a very long life because I will never be 29. My new song is when I die young bury me in satin, throw my ashes to the wind, wear a gardenia, pop the champagne, get your dancing shoes on and sing.

But actually do the math everyone. I am 16 1/2 and will never be 29 ( yep I’m a leap year baby)

Let’s celebrate your sweet sixteen again with all pomp and show. Hahaha! Forever young, I see!

3) What’s your favorite form of excercise that you given a chance would make everyone do it and why?

That’s tough to choose one but for sure dancing since it’s so fun. Pick your favorite song close your eyes and move. I also love Thai Chi and yoga because it’s so centering and grounding and we need that now more than ever.

Is that the reason for your amazing fitness and humor? We’ll definitely have a night out once you are in India full of dance and your lovely moves!

4) What are your views on same sex marriage? What would you do if someone from your family does it?

My cousin was found with a group of men and he was married at the time which didn’t go over well in the day but later, his son married a man and well everyone was fine about it.  It’s awesome when people can be authentic and real with their sexual orientation and not have to hide it. That is just who they are. Who are we to judge. I support it all but can we please not add another letter to the LGBT because after awhile I think it just separates people. I was asked what I preferred being refered to about 5 years ago at a work event and I was so confused because I had no idea what they were talking about. I felt so embarrassed because they, she, he, her, it, them just rolled there eyes.

With time comes acceptance to change. I agree the further prolongation of the word is creating more divide. People should be accepted as who they are and not categorized for further discrimination.

5) If you could give up one anatomic function, what would you choose?

I just did in Covid which is hugging. I used to hug everyone and now I’ve found it was an automatic response and I actually don’t want to hug everyone and that’s ok.

Your poor arms need so much rest, Cindy and must be feeling empty now as you’ve left hugging. Automatic hugging is so Cindy things!

6) If sinners go to heaven, where do you think good people who don’t do anything go to?

Some of the good ones go to candy land, others Hawaii and live in a moo moo.  Where do you think they go?

I’ll prefer candy land! Yummy living!

7) If you were allowed to ask one question to somebody with a guarantee that they would answer. Who would that be? What will the question be? Why?

Funny you should ask. I just put a note in Joan Baez’s mailbox and asked her if I could interview her or I could write a poem and we could do a collaboration and she might be willing to sing to try to raise awareness in the world. She is an amazing activist and human being.  She probably thinks I’m another wack-a-doodle and my handwriting has gotten horrible!

Handwriting part I can relate. Somebody just yesterday criticized my “good” handwriting. Though, I had already mentioned before to him, you’d need to have a special skill to read what I have written. I hope to see your this collaboration soon!

8) What is the role of religion and spirituality in ageing and coping up?

Reminding you that everyday is a good day if you got up. So stay grateful and know that love is everlasting here, there and everywhere. But I don’t need to see you again-:) Ha!  That’s just me-:)

Fair enough means of living and leaving

9) If you could reverse ageing, would you go for it? Why? Why not?

Wow! Of course I would and yet I earned these battle scars and wisdom has taught me to embrace them. I’m actually a mow and blow girl: My husband and kids say “you should have been a guy”. Lol. I just can’t be bothered about superfluous things but my friend reminded me of her mom getting so much attention in the nursing home because she was so beautiful.  They called her “The beautiful dancing Helena” so now I’m trying to up my game in the beauty department just in case I end up there-:)

I am sure you do gather much attention wherever you go!

10) What do you think is common between yours and the younger generation today? Do you feel living with parents is good option for grown up children? How to cope with age related loneliness when kid leave home?

We all want to have peace, enjoyable times, to be seen and heard. In the “old” days we worked our way up the ladder through loyalty and dedication.  Now we skip through rings and move on to what’s next and best for us. The pressures are more with  technology, etc so we aren’t obsoleted and the younger generation might not like it but they have learned to adapt.

I know in other cultures people live with each other forever and it’s a gift. Let’s just say I left at 18 and never looked back. During Covid, three of my kids came back which had its ups and downs. They say after 4 days guest smell like fish and I will just say it was 2 years for some of them being here. I would have to agree.

Must have been hard leaving at eighteen. I miss home and homemade food since forever now!

11) How was your experience with the interviewer? Rate the interview on a scale of 1 to 10, one being the least score.

What interview?😂

Hanging with you Zish, Sheereen, Nawaz! Wait, you’re actually going to post this? I thought we were just playing.😂It was a 10 of course!💕🙏💕
And a day without an Emoji makes me crazy!😎😘

Thank you for considering my request. It was so much fun. The spark she brought to the interview is commendable. Love you, Cindy! Hope we collaborate more in the future.

It was truly fun to hangout with Sheereen and do accept if she asks you for one. Thanks again Sheereen for putting the Yay in my Fri-Yay!

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend whatever you do. May you laugh more than you cry and your joys be more that your sorrows.

And Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Mom’s and to you Mom for being the great mom you are.

Dad wanted me to read this to you on Mother’s Day ( I know you have heard it many times but it still holds true).

To One who Bares the sweetest name
and add luster to the same,
who shares my joys whenever sad,
the greatest friend I ever had.
Long life to her for there is no other
that could take the place
of my dear mother.

What a thrilling interview, Cindy. Now I could see you in my mind all through this hearty interview. Your answers are genuine, mostly, and you humour and openness is welcoming. I love your answers on religion, gender and generational issues. I can imagine having to leave home at eighteen. I was only a kid on my mother’s laps then😄😅. Haha. But that’s how cultures are different and unique. What a wonderful lighting piece for Friday! I greatly enjoyed. You said you’re 16 1/2 and never seen 29th… I calculated nothing, but sure you’re a sprightly person who fits well with everyone in every age group when we talk matters socializing. I love that. 💖💖 Happy Friday cum weekend.

Cindy, girl, so why am I laughing at such a fun and authentic interview? 😂😂😂 Because you’re my FUNyay kind of friend. Now about that “after 4 days guest smell like fish” 😆 I was wondering where that smell was coming from! LMAO 🤣

Sheereen asked some great questions and I am glad you weren’t so stuffy with the answers. Sometimes we can be just a bit too serious when we are being interviewed. But you can tell she appreciated it when she said, “I haven’t met someone as lively and chirpy as Cindy ever in my life.” Booyah! 🤜🏼🤛🏼 That’s my girl!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

OMG you are so lovely, loving, kind, a bubbling bottle of joy, cheerfulness, adding your version of Zing to anyone who would catch your whiff, virtually or personally – I say this with utmost deep regard for I do not take this energy, depth and clarity rolled in to bright exuberanace, a gift to the world. I have long back left behind the number game of age, do not believe in any kind of ageism, it is the energy that speaks more than any number, and you truly model and inspire that for me. I absolutely loved your interview, so much fun and lightness :))) Happy Friyayy and have an amazing weekend!!
