Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

There is strength in silence, behind my sweetness;

Hear me Roar!

If you cross me, don’t be fooled
by my demure ensemble.

Cover your ears and run for the hills because I’ve hired my entourage to find you.

If you thought you could pull a fast one, think again.

Hear me Roar!

Life was made for making things right and putting an end to the injustices rendered.

Whipping cream is sweet it’s true, but if you’ve run amuck,
pucker up and deal with what life hands you, served on a silver platter.

Hear me Roar!

We gather in the name of God, where sweetness cuts to the chase.

That’s right…NEVER underestimate the silence and power of a woman,
wrapped in whipping cream clouds that smile.

We are woman;

Hear us roar!

In Keeping with theme and to honor The Anthology Wounds I healed: Poetry of Strong Woman coming in June, here’s to our trio Gabriela Maria MiltonIngrid Wilson from EiF and Nick Reeves.

And now a song that my friend Kym Gordon Moore from Behind the Pen sent me after I commented on her last post Flashback Feline Fact. To know her is to love her as you know. Kindred to many, Dawwwlink to me (she added that wonderful word in my repertoire), wise beyond words, poetress, beautiful and a soul sister. Do meet her, if you haven’t had a chance. You’ll be happy you did. Thanks for sharing this song Kym!!! 💖

Have a wonderful start of your week and roar your sweetness in silence and in truth.

Blessings of Love Always,

💖

Cindy

Cindy, I ABSOLUTELY love this. I will just focus on your opening sentence – “There is strength in silence, behind my sweetness;” I have often quoted an old line “do not mistake kindness as weakness.” False bravado means fake bravery. Beating on one’s chest is usually reserved to someone who does not want to fight. The one to worry about most has always been the quiet, pensive one. Think Ukraine president standing up to bully Putin.

To the point of your poem, I am reminded by a true story from one of the most difficult books I have ever read, “Half the Sky” by Nicholas Kristoff and Sheryl WuDunn. It is about the maltreatment of women around the globe and the title is based on the Chinese proverb that women hold up half the sky.

The example is a tribe was left to defend itself with the women and children left in the village. They were housing some injured male warriors. When the enemy came to find them, the women who commanded a lot of respect told the enemy to go on about their business and let them be. And, the enemy did. They were so steadfast in their resolve it intimidated the enemy men.

We should never forget a huge example during the 2016 GOP presidential primary. When Meghan Kelly of Fox asked the future president some tough questions in one debate, he refused to do future debates if Ms. Kelly was one of the interviewers. He was scared of her. What we learned later, he was fed questions by someone at Fox and Ms. Kelly happened to ask him questions about his maltreatment of women that were not fed to him in advance and he did not like it one bit. True story.

Finally, it should be noted the election in Australia this week where conservatives were swept out was said to be due to a large voting bloc of women who were concerned about climate change action, child care funding, Medicare strengthening and integrity. Women can make a difference and I hope they do.

Cheers to all such strong women. Such a wonderful tone and mood in this poem, showing us the power of women. This upcoming anthology is a clear indication that women can speak together with one voice. My plaudits to you all. Women of gravitas. Women of great widom and knowledge. Women of unceasing power. Amazing! 🌺🌺❤

I didn’t love the roar song fro
Katy – but think her album with teenage dream was special – and she has sure “miked ” that success – with the Vegas show and all
That!
I think Katy Perry is one amazing singer and recently Saw her wearing the mermaid costume (on the voice or whatever show she hosts ) and she seems to have a clever approach to what she gets involved with…

Oh and regarding Katie perry –
I think I liked roar- when it came out – it had a ton of radio play so it does connect to a season in my life as I remember when it was out!

And your post was on my mind later when I left! That is how fun and original to poem was and the connection to Roar!
Yes – so once again that Cindy originality and natural talent shown through!
Anyhow – I was remembering when I saw Katy perry sing “California” live on SNL.
I never see that show live and for some reason we turned the to on and there she was – with her colored hair and very talented voice – in fact, when she belted out “California” on that live mic –
I paused and was like “dang…”
Hahahaha
Then her album went on to have all
Those hits and even theme parks played some we songs for chats e acts etc!

I always felt Katy perry should as received the award that Adele got that year (can’t recall which award – female artist of the year??)

Anyhow –
More recently
We saw Katy perry on New Year’s Eve!
She had a little guest spot on the CNN live broadcast – which was a disgrace because Anderson cooper and his partner hosted and in my opinion it was the most unprofessional journalism I have seen from an established news channel (I know they have many embarrassing moments at CNN in last few years –
Like having the pandemic footage leak about where they said death numbers (on the screen) and fear is what keeps viewers watchjng – even if misleading – fear is what sells” something like that!

Anyhow – Katy perry came on as Anderson cooper – wasted and acting like a 9th grader who over drank for the third time! And he said something to Katy Perry about coming over her show and she said – very smoothly
“Drunken promises” and I loved her reply – because she was classy During that embarrassing shit show!
I then realized – also – that she handled her fame very well.
Some get funky when millions roll in but she seemed to hold her own….
And she mentioned that one of her own favorite songs was “by the grace of god” which I never gets but reminded me that she had Christian roots and I wonder where she was at with that….

So anyhow -all that to say your post was on my mind
🎶🎵🎶🎵

Oh the power that oozes from your poem Cindy!!! I was left with feeling I wish I had an embodied experience of feeling this powerful, and then realized that I feel a very certain congruence and resonance in this way of being – it is just felt a bit more tenderly within. You inspire me my friend, I feel lucky to have found my way to you (through you finding me, so grateful!) Your poem keeps me fueled on the trail I intend to be on. The silent roars are to be heeded!! They come with Love and a different category of compassion – the kind that doesn’t compromise on truthful expressions of our being.
