Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

One big melting pot:

The crazy, the zany, the artsy, the musicians, the actors, the business tycoons………..
( Avoid trump village at any cost)!!!

The colorful, the mundane, food a plenty
music at Sugar Bar, where everyone’s high on life.

You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl but explore, I did. Still reeling from this unexpected trip. We hit the ground running walking 25,000-30,000 steps a day averaging about 12 miles a day.

Uptown, downtown, Eastside, Westside, Chelsea, Midtown, the Highland and Jersey by foot, cab, Uber, or subway. I even signed up for my first Uber and Lyft application to be a driver ….oops. I quickly fixed that and ordered my first Uber. 😂

From Churchill Tavern leaving my purse at 2:30 a.m. in the booth for a photo opt, to strawberry fields to honor John Lennon ….”Just Imagine”. We beelined it home on foot with no cab insight at 4:30 a.m.
Thankfully, The Eiffel tower shined its guiding light and we arrived safely home.

Fall colors and all their glory greeted us each day in the sun, humidity, some rain and spring flowers, reflections of light in every body of water, I grew some legs on this trip, and even found my way to Trader Joe’s and back by myself. Whoo Hoo.

With the best tour guides around, my daughter and friend, we saw an incredible show Arcadia Earth https://www.arcadia-earth.com/ in 3-D about our planet and oceans and ways to Save our Planet, hit the Metropolitan, and The Guggenheim with its architectural beauty. I prayed in St. Patrick’s Church to sit down, Strolled through Rockefeller Center, and witnessed a wedding in front of Grand Central Train Station.

Dogs are everywhere, be careful not to step in poop… another oops.

My highlight was seeing my daughter of course and The Kite Runner (Last show is Oct. 30th so hurry if you want to go, it won’t disappoint). It turned out our friend Alex Purcel was in the play that night and performed 3 different roles and did a superb job. He was in our local High School play with my daughter, so to see him on Broadway in New York with top rated actors was a delight and he didn’t disappoint, nor did the cast. We were brought to tears through the laughs of this heart wrenching and moving story. Below is a little bit about the cast and their notable roles and stardom.

Broadway’s The Kite Runner officially opened July 21 at The Hayes Theater, continuing through October 30. The new play, adapted by Matthew Spangler from Khaled Hosseini’s novel, follows Amir from a young boy living in Kabul, Afghanistan, to adulthood, as he confronts his past and searches for redemption.
Leading the cast are Amir Arison as Amir and Faran Tahir as Baba. They are joined by Mazin Akar, Barzin Akhavan, Demosthenes Chrysan, Azita Ghanizada, Danish Farooqui, Joe Joseph, Déa Julien, Dariush Kashani, Beejan Land, Amir Malaklou, Christine Mirzayan, Haris Pervaiz, Alex Purcell, Eric Sirakian, Houshang Touzie, and Evan Zes. Salar Nader plays the tabla, a percussion instrument.

Buy tickets here … last show Oct 30th.

We got our fix with Alex all to ourselves after the show which for us was the highlight.

As for me, I had an amazing time breaking out and having time with my daughter and avoided a lot of the drilling of concrete and construction.

The biggest gift was having moments where I realized, no matter how far our kids roam, they are always watching us and we always have teachable moments.

Our final night, we stayed in her apartment and cuddled up on the couch watching some silly Halloween Movie and I realized no matter where they go and how long the distance, we are always there for each other and the biggest gift is family, where we can come together in true authenticity and share our hearts, knowing we will come back restored and renewed.

I’m a little in shock that I came home and am missing New York but with Ollie in my lap as I type, home is where my heart is as the sun rises to greet me.

Have a great week ahead. So much more to share but I have a client waiting for me so I best go.

In closing, whatever you’re afraid to do, do it, feel the feelings and move beyond your comfort zone. There is a big world out there waiting for you to explore.

Always Love,

💗

Cindy

Wow! what a full trip, Cindy! I’ve never walked that many steps even coordinating the Tulare County Mock Trial Competition where I always walked at least 21,000 steps a day. The play sounds fabulous, and knowing and getting to spend time with one of the actors – such a bonus. I love the closeness you expressed being with your daughter. Mom and I shared that kind of love – so comfortable with each other. What a gift you have given to each other.

Clearly, you had a lot of fun! I am such a big fan The Kite Runner. I read it in high school and it’s one of those stories that stays with you. I am so glad they are making a show based on it and I have no doubt everyone in it is very talented 😊

Oh Cindaaaayyyy, my girl, first of all what an awesome trip and the experiences you had were priceless my friend. 😁 So you were hobnobbing it with the cast of The Kite Runner huh? 🪁 Your pictures are truly amazing. But after reading this post, my friend, you summed it up nicely –
“In closing, whatever you’re afraid to do, do it, feel the feelings and move beyond your comfort zone. There is a big world out there waiting for you to explore.” Girl I am juiced up and my tank is full, and I am rip roaring and ready to go! Thanks for this extra injection of Superhero energy! You rock girlfriend! 🐱‍🏍🏋🏼‍♀️🦅 I love the way you roll!!! 😍💐🥰

Thanks for the motivation Cindy. Sometimes we tend to get stuck in our comfort zones and can’t find our way out. But while your adventure was probably scary, you fought fear and anything that looked like it You go Ms. Uber! LOL 😂🚖🚕🚖🤣

Oh my! You had so much fun in the Big Apple, Cindy. And the miles on your feet! How wonderful and to do it all with your daughter. Great pics of the melting pot. It’s way to overwhelming for me, but you make it seems exciting (Nice to have guide too!).

I think the place is intimidating, but I would love it with a daughter-guide, so I wouldn’t stress about getting lost or getting on the wrong subway, etc. That would be a blast. 😀

Referring to your last paragraph, I don’t know how I’d react all alone in a big city. Back in the day, I would have taken in as much as I could, but that isn’t me now. I’d want to, but I don’t know if I would alone. I’m proud of you for doing New York City right!
