Happy Fun-Fri-Yayyy My Friends❣️
Whether this finds you just getting up or heading to bed, “Grab a cuppa” and join me to celebrate Kym Gordon Moore’s Book Release, We Are Poetry Lessons I didn’t learn in a Textbook.
First off, hats off to our author with the biggest heart, fun spirit, passion, always cheering us all on and so uplifting and inspirational❣️
CONGRATULATIONS and CHEERS to you Kym, my friend and yours! If you’re not friends with her yet, tell her Cindy Funday Mommy Nature Girl sent you (my nickname she gave me) and she’ll welcome you with open arms. Soon you too will have a nickname. Right Dawwwwlink?❣️ This was the first time I had ever heard it pronounced like that and I love it.
This isn’t her first rodeo in book writing. That’s right or write, with over 3 other books to show for it, not to mention being an award-winning recipient in honorable poetry contests and more (do see her about page), before writing this book. I would say that this is a culmination of all she has learned out of the classroom even though she has plenty of hours in the classroom with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a Masters in Business Administration with 30 years of writing and speaking experience in the corporate world. So rush, don’t wait, to her blog space Behind The Pen and follow her. You won’t be disappointed, promise!
And look at her here in all of her glory looking so hot, sassy and classy with a wealth of knowledge as she takes the world by storm and brings life to poetry while bridging the gap and disrupting conventional thought processes to change the narrative of poetry which often gets a bad rap. Her objective is to get this book world wide to fight against illiteracy and aliteracy by introducing elements of poetic diversity and education among children and adults through non-traditional teaching approaches.
“So baby, grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine” as she says in her introduction so candidly that you feel like you are sitting on the couch with her and I’ll tell you a secret.
First of all, to all of you who have asked me to write a review of your book and I had to put you on hold, I apologize. However, when a book shows up out of the blue at my doorstep with no strings attached saying “no need to write a review, unless you would like to”, how could I refuse‼ Signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours… She does love her music as can be seen on her posts❣️ Furthermore, she did say “but I would love a picture of Ollie and the book”. Ollie was elated and you know how I love my cats. So here you go Kym. I hope we didn’t disappoint.
NA MA STAY IN BED ALL DAY.. It’s Friday after all!
Mind you, this isn’t a full review because unlike all of you who read every book you can get your hands on and manage to read everyone’s blog and write as well, I just don’t have that capacity reading over 200 blogs a day, working full time and writing and blogging with a full family life. I am seriously in awe of that and have no idea how you do it but I do buy and gift lots of your books, so there’s that. Kudos to all of you!
Secondly, I write poetry but it appeared out of the blue and sometimes I have to pinch myself and am still trying to get my head around that. So when Kym’s book arrived in BIG PRINT with these aging eyes I was elated. How could you make it any easier to read for old readers or young ones?!! Brilliant idea Kym❣️
What I love about her book is that it captures you right off the bat with quotes to start every new chapter and her poems are interspersed throughout. Her poems are heartfelt and gripping that keep you engaged. Her poetic style and imagery in writing while imparting history and evolution of poetry are engaging and I find myself learning throughout the book.
I often feel inadequate because I’m not up to speed on all of the wonderful authors and periods but she always gives a definition and takes the mystery out of the otherwise elusive which can leave me feeling inadequate and small. It is by the way, one of the reasons poetry has not been well received through the ages which she points out.
When I read her book, I feel empowered and excited by the journey she takes us on which is so rich with symbolism and imagery and at the end of each chapter she invites you to participate in a POETRY CHALLENGE which is fun there are no grades yahoo!
Plus, I can open any page and read one of her amazing poems that always touch my heart and are thought provoking or open insights. Kind of like angel cards which I love.
I love this quote in her chapter Disparities in Poetry:
Poetry has universal appeal that neither begins with nor ends with an elite few.Kim Gordon Moore
There are so many gems and treasures in her book and it is a gift to all of us to learn and grow from as we take our words into the world and encourage others to do the same honestly, succinctly and lovingly.
Thank you Kym from the bottom of my heart and Ollie’s who has already sunk her teeth into into it literally.
That’s what she does with paper when she likes something.
Here’s to a great launch and sales galore and you continue to stamp the world with the gift of your presence, light and love!
