Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

Life is paint by number, grow as you go.
Brush outside the lines or inside,

go with the flow.
Scribble, erase, change,
it’s how we learn in a world with so many choices.
Rip it up, tear it out, create
a whole new reality.
This is your dream.

Hands in the fire,
jump in the lake.
Sink or swim,
when the pressure cooker rings.
Life’s plethora of choices can be overwhelming,
just pick one.

All roads traveled end in lessons learned,
so just breathe.
Walk away while your painting takes shape.
Yes, paint by number or out of the line.
It’s all up to you it’s your time to shine.

People will try to steal your thunder,
don’t give them that power.
Keep on walking and never look back,
it’s your time to flower.

Life is paint by number, grow as you go.

Hi Everyone,

I’m back from vacation… well kind of. I know I’m late or early with this post depending on where you are on the globe. It’s tough to get back in the saddle so this is going to be quick today but I wanted to share my thoughts with you on growing your platform.

Growing your platform is critical for success once you have launched your book and you learn as a you grow. We are nothing without our family, friends, co-workers, clients and of course our amazing Word Press Family and social media friends. Thank you to all of you for being the paint in my paint brush and coloring my world so brightly.

I have to stop saying I hate social media because it is here to stay and an incredible way to put our word out in the world. I used to argue whole heartedly with staff saying “NO, we are booked solid without it and I don’t want our business out everywhere in the world with all of the scams etc”.

Luckily, they finally talked me into it and I say luckily because with a book in the world, it’s a whole game changer and we need to rely on as many avenues as we can to get our word in the world if that is our objective. Of course nothing beats word of mouth where sharing our heart of what matters to us most is our best advertisement. It’s single handedly how I grew my business since it is my passion.

Thanks to all of you we had a great launch and my book is getting into the hands of those that are truly benefitting from it which I’m so grateful for. I get little pictures of people holding my book, with texts and emails which gives me the impetus to carry on.

It’s a day to day experience… one foot at a time

My video is now live… sorry if you had problems.

I have tons of suggestions as to what to do before your launch as I’ve been starting to hit bookstores and it’s more challenging than expected. Let’s just say that the book world is saturated with self publishing now and print on demand and there has been a huge shift in them taking in local authors. Do your homework ahead of time before you get your book launched so you at least understand what the game is out in the world of publishing. It is also the easiest time to produce a book but we want to have all ores fired in getting it in peoples hands. That is where you want to make sure you do pre-sales long before your book comes out and do all you can months ahead of time.

This was quite shocking when I went into my local bookstore I know and love and they said I had to apply online for all of these reasons below. It burst my bubble to be quite honest with you since this is where I’ve shopped forever. I like a lot of us am a brick and mortar kind of gal. Some of my author friends have put their books in this very store and done talks I’ve gone to but that was “the old days”. Yes, I’m dating myself.

Congratulations on publishing your book! We are delighted that you have something to share with the world and you have chosen to share it through writing a book. We want you to find readers for your book and we hope the information below will be helpful to you in this regard.

The democratization of publishing has unleashed a flood of self-published books. According to the latest ProQuest Bowker Report (October 15, 2019), nearly 1.7 million books were self-published in the U.S. in 2018. No other industry has so many new product introductions every year! Please read our publishing colleague Steve Piersanti’s 10 Awful Truths about Book Publishing and take special note of his suggested strategies for responding to these awful truths.

If your book is published by a traditional book publisher, we will already be considering your book through our normal buying process. Our buyers meet with the sales representatives of all major publishers several times a year and make buying decisions for thousands of new titles.  The key word here is major publishers.

It’s also easier to get your book to a best seller on Amazon if it’s poetry and more difficult if it’s in the teaching memoir self-help/ happiness genre since there are so many more books in that genre. So I have to say it’s doing pretty good all things considered.

With that I did submit my first submission request with Kepler’s in Menlo Park, Ca. If any of you are there please ask them to order my book and they can do that and ship it to you. Wish me luck and if any of you have any great ideas, I would love to hear them. I’ve got my work cut out for me but I’m ready to go the distance.

I woke up to an amazing Amazon review from Nigel from Helping You to Succeed and was so touched! Please do visit his blog. Thank you so much Nigel.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great readReviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 15, 2023

One of the most wholesome books I have read this year. Cindy Georgakas’ new book, Re-Create & Celebrate, brings all her years of experience as a life coach, and a woman emboldened through a life of faith, to embrace authenticity. She has created a workbook filled with anecdotal testimonies to encourage you on your own journey of possibilities and living a purposeful life. Quite an engaging read. I give it the thumbs up. For all who are into self-help genres, this is a good read.

Thanks to all of you and please keep these coming if you would be so kind. The more reviews the more my book will get into the hands of those that can benefit from it. Thanks for your support , purchasing and sharing my book Re-Create & Celebrate. You can buy it here on Amazon.

I would also be most grateful if you would subscribe to my YouTube channel and give it some love, it makes a difference when pitching your work. Thanks to those of you who already do.

Also, a special thanks to Rising Star who I mentioned in my video for his inspiration on his blog Ideal Inspiration who started the Ideal Blogger Award that we all had so much fun participating in.

Have a wonderful Wise Wednesday and do one thing today that will make you proud!

Love and Blessings,

💗

Cindy, I was writing professionally (advertising, journalism) for decades when I published my first book in 2000. I thought the transition would be a breeze, but I soon learned that book publishing is a different world. Don’t worry about getting into bookstores where you’ll likely only sell a couple of copies at each, or less. Seek the market you appeal to directly, such as organizations and schools. I’ve sold several thousands of several of my books by doing this.

Only about 1% of books submitted to traditional publishers ever get published, according to sources. The democratization of publishing has been both a boon and a hindrance to getting the best writers published. There’s a lot of mediocre stuff being published, which drags everyone down. Traditional publishers used to be the gatekeepers, so to speak. There are fewer readers and fewer bookstores. Streaming TV is a big distraction from reading. Everyone is learning from your experience, Cindy! I wish you good luck with your self-care book, and I am looking forward to reading your poetry book when it comes out.

Many many congratulations once again Cindy on your book doing so well. Your poems really make my day. Reading this post it looks like your life has really changed with learning about the publishing world. Self publishing, ebooks, audiobooks has really changed the publishing and marketing of books rapidly. Once any book is written and published whether the sales are instant or not, it’s forever etched in history and your book is going to help so many people not just this year but forever.

Hi Cindy, this is an interesting post. I am well aware of how difficult it is to market books, both Indie and traditional. This is why I know write for the fun of it and am not writing long and very ‘hard work’ novels. I am sticking to poetry and children’s books which bring me a lot of pleasure and I enjoy the artwork I do as illustrations. I enjoyed your video which I watched in advance of reading this post. Well done, all around.

Whoaaa….this post got my head spinning ( in a good way) first stop book stores…yeah…i feel you Cindy..its harder this time to put our works on bookstores unless you are published by a major publisher, which is sad 😔 because we know how it works .

And the amazon review…oh dear, i am so sad that most of the books i review over on Amazon don’t actually appear…but some appears on goodreads..i am still hoping my review of your book will appear sooner…nevertheless i am putting up a date for you across my social media accounts.

And finally Nigel…oh he is such a great support and a brilliant writer..

The thing about Goodreads is you also reach a wider and different readers. From when i do my review from the kindle app i automatically connects it to goodreads. So if the author is on goodreads they got to see it too..
