Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

I am humbled and honored to have been featured on Literary Revelations PUBLISHING HOUSE, thanks to Gabriela Marie Milton of Short Prose Fiction.

As you may recall , Gabriela was the Editor for MasticadoresUsa when they first started their online publication in December 2021 and I was honored to be invited to be a Monthly Contributor which I happily accepted.

Gabriela is a #1 Amazon bestselling and award winning poet, and an internationally published author.  I was honored to have 2 poems featured in her best selling Anthologies, Wounds I healed: The Poetry of Strong Woman (EIF) and Hidden In Childhood: A Poetry Anthology (Literary Revelations, 2013).

Her work is unsurpassed and I personally marvel at her knowledge, creativity, imagery and ability to compose poetry that is so moving and inspires us to find our best selves in our work.

Here is the start of one of my first 2 poems featured:

bruised

bruised,
thin skinned
Oozing
Like this peach
I bite into.
Sweetness drips down my chin
as I try to save face.

Tears bittersweet as I say goodbye,
never knowing why.

Like the peach,
relationships have a shelf life.
Often misunderstood living under our skin,
festering and bubbling under the surface.

Love hurts.
There are no quick cures but
the love you once had is yours to savor.

If you once loved,
you will love again.

The chill of the season leaves us dormant to go inside and hibernate
to do our inner cleaning.
clear out the cobwebs that remain.

Healing takes time as we grapple with our inner demons giving them some space to learn and grow.

I would be honored of you would go here and read the rest of my poem and the next one as well. Please give it a like as well to show the love and appreciation to our beloved Gabriela.

About Literary Revelations Publishing House:

They are an independent publishing house dedicated to showcasing the best literary and art work. They publish poetry, short stories, interviews, art, and novels and look forward to hearing from you with your work of art.

Congratulations to Gabriela and C.X. Turner and James Welsh on their beautiful poetry book being released August 11th, 2023!

Literary Revelations features emerging and established authors of poetry and fiction. We publish most poetry genres: epic, lyric, narrative, or prose poetry.  We expect work that dazzles the intellect, and delights the soul; work that makes feelings blossom into symphonies of love, beauty, and sorrow. Interpret the silence. Find the place where love was born, and tears are entombed. Be the voice of prophets. Be the soft whisper of Sakura.Dream, create, suggest. Avoid cliches. Avoid the banal and the explicit, even if both have become trendy.  Remember “To define is to kill. To suggest is to create.” (Stéphane Mallarmé).  We also publish fiction such as mystery, romance, fantasy, and other types. We do not publish erotica.Remember a novel is not the mere act of outlining one thing after another. We do not look for tables of contents. We want you to love, and to suffer, with your characters.  We want you to remember the importance of the landscape, and to look over your shoulder where the unknown lies.  Embrace it. Remember what Jorge Luis Borges said: “When writers die they become books, which is, after all, not too bad an incarnation.”Make sure you get everything right.

Thank you so much for your continued support and to Gabriela for publishing my poems. I am deeply honored.

Have a blessed week,

💗

Cindy

How wonderful, Cindy. I love the lines, “Like the peach,
relationships have a shelf life.
Often misunderstood living under our skin,
festering and bubbling under the surface.” How true that is, and the shelf life is often for a good reason, and often just because we run out of time or move. Your poem is very moving.

I loved your poems. Some friends have a short shelf life and others are gems you keep forever!
I liked this line:
I wake to an empty glass on the nightstand and an open window, no note of goodbye.
