Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

I’m delighted my poem Behind The Wall Memories live has been accepted and published in Spillwords Magazine today, and I am so grateful to editor Dagmara K. and her team for sharing my poem which is a great honor.

I do know it’s Fun-Fri-Yayyy and this piece is dark but when Spillwords talks, I listen. I wrote this piece for a client that gave voice to her struggles and she was ever so appreciative. Sometimes just being heard is enough to uplift your spirits. It could be you or someone you know that is struggling and this poem may bring a glimmer of hope to a challenging time to remind you that you are not alone. Feel free to share it with anyone you may feel could benefit from it.

September is Suicide Prevention Month so this comes at a good time where we can all do our part by reaching out and inspiring people to help save lives. My heart holds yours if you are struggling or have lost a loved one to this tragedy. I found this article and video that I think is very helpful in “talking away the dark” that I think has great tips.

BEHIND THE WALL MEMORIES LIVE

written by: Cindy Georgakas

Behind the wall,
memories live.
Hiding in peeled paint,
cracked stucco and pasted on smiles.
Feelings get buried,
Hurt resides,
Turning a blinds eye.

Overtime we crumble,
Facades fall,
Decomposing into a heap of rubble.
The end is the beginning,
Turning each fallen star,
into a guiding light.

Scared, discouraged.
We want to flee but
There’s nowhere to go,
But here.

They say patience is a virtue.
but if this is virtuous let me drown
In this sea to rid the pain.

Haven’t I suffered enough?
Am I paying some karmic debt?
For what is this life,
if always drowning
In my own blood?

I cry to the gods I curse,
I throw myself to the wind.
In hopes I might blow away.

When the last tear has been shed,
There is silence.

I would be honored if you would read the rest of my poem by clicking on this link here. if you would be so kind and leave a “❤️” for my poem.

Have a wonderful Friday and weekending. Remember to reach out across the table is you are suffering or reach out to someone else and let them know you care.

Love and Hugs,

💗

Cindy

P.S. Ollie sends her love and reminder to just be the cat. She’s recovering from a cat bite from my daughter’s cat and loves all the new baby paraphernalia.

A powerful evocative poem, Cindy. My son and daughter have each lost a friend years ago to suicide. There really are no words. It is just so tragic that these two young teens didn’t feel there were other options. I will visit your poem on SW. Congrats on another publication. xoxo

She doesn’t look like she is suffering. That’s a very thoughtful poem, Cindy. So many times we don’t know in time to help. I’ve been praying the Psalms recently using my journal and that helps us remember the good. I hope you friend can escape the bad situation that makes her so desperate.

Congratulations on the poem and I found it very relatable. I’ve been dealing with old memories and traumas which I didn’t think I would have to revisit. Unfortunately, sometimes life gives us a good kick but that’s never the end of our story. Things will and do get better.
And poor Ollie but I know she’ll be back to her normal self in no time!

Okay, the poem is ummm…. sad in a way.
It makes me think of the Tarot card – The Tower –
It’s dark, lightning hits the tower.
The tower crumbles to the ground.
Some tumble with it.

People freak when they get this card, but they misinterpret.
What’s done is done.
Time to rebuild from the ground up.
It’s positive because it’s all about beginnings and growing and building.
Take care, Cindy! ❤️❤️

Congratulations on your poem published. The theme of breaking comes through varied and effective, especially with (and in) the entire poem. Sometimes we cannot keep the self together, and we should try to know and to express this. Then what’s broken can be aided and repairedm openly and well. That’s what little I know. I’m glad Ollie is getting better. Certainly looks contented in the photo, even with the cone. My cat mostly wore the cone well, too. Maybe cats appreciate the good the cone does. I hope you and all of yours are having a pleasant, health-filled day.

Accepting silence as a better option to prevent further damage is like assuming a physical wound will heal on its own if we hide it properly. Not speaking out when abused or not sharing your concerns with a therapist, eats your soul. Sharing is caring but it’s also necessary to find the right person who will not aggravate your emotions.

Thoughtful poem, Cindy. Thanks for sharing an important message.
