Unique Times

Where I share my jewels of wisdom of life

MasticadoresUsa // Editor: Barbara Leonhard //

It’s my great honor to have my poem, “Words Like Appendages Set Sail” posted on MasticadoresUsa thanks to Barbara Leonhard for publishing this piece. In my busyness, I forgot to share it on my site last week. Thank you to those who have already gone there to read and your comments. If you missed it, here you go:

Words like appendages fall from my lips gathering sounds, nouns, verbs, and consonants to create poetic imagery.

Lips pursed, whispers blown, screams echo to disassembled freedom. I drink in the bittersweet expression in words found as I clink my glass to you my friend that pulses through my soul when words run empty or body parts crumble not recognizing the shell in which they exist.

We swim the torrential waters ….

I would be honored if you would go here to read the rest of my poem and share the appreciation at MastecadoresUsa for their support of our literary community.

Thanks truly for reading and again to Barbara for publishing this piece and your support and dedication to detail. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Press on her site for details for details on submissions.

Your expressive words, not one of them is less than the other, but this phrase jumps out at me, “body parts crumble not recognizing the shell in which they exist.” Then followed by the line, “We swim the torrential waters” If only we and all would recognize these things when we are young in think we are invulnerable. My heart is sad over the news that a 40-year-old woman in San Jose has had all of her limbs removed because she cooked a fish she bought in the store that contained a virus. I pray for her Ps. 119:67 and your poem.

How sad! Maybe it is the same person. This was a beautiful girl aged 40. I cried over her.

This is one of the most beautifully-crafted and descriptive poems I’ve ever read from you. The words come alive on the page. I especially like the imagery of appendages falling from lips. You truly crafted a beautiful piece of art for MasticadoresUsa.

Congratulations, a lovely piece!

Yes indeed, “We swim the torrential waters together flowing from the river finding sea legs.” Many rivers we cross, drenched by the overflow, finding our breath, in our humanity!
